Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

On April 22nd, 2002, I performed my last show with Meat Loaf as guitarist/keyboardist/singer,
at an event for The Riverkeeper benefit...The organization is spearheaded by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
They make sure large corporations, absent-minded individuals, etc., don't pollute
the glorious Hudson River. They scour the entire radius of the mighty body of water for offenders...
On this particular night they were honoring Harrison Ford for his work with them.
At the end of our performance who walks in the room, but RFK, Jr.
Whatever your political persuasion is -- a Democrat, Republican, or neither....
when this dude waltzed into our dressing room and proclaimed,
"Hi, I'm Bobby Kennedy!", all of our jaws dropped. Like he had to inform us of who he is!
Tell me he doesn't look just like his Dad!
Imagine the history this man brings into a room,
the personal tragedies and triumphs, he's witnessed...unbelievable.
Anyway, he dove right into a bag a chips sitting on the food-covered table and shot the breeze with us for half an hour.
He couldn't stop thanking us for performing, and even from the podium when he spoke,
he thanked Meat Loaf AND HIS BAND.
We liked that....a real gent.
